Downtown Danville’s Spring Shine Celebration continues with the Easter Bonnetroo Festival and Parade. Again, Downtown Danny the Easter Bunny will visit his house and welcome kids from 10 am to 2 pm.
The public is invited to grab their most flamboyant Easter Bonnets and join together at Lindley Sign Post Forest at the corner of East Harrison and North Vermilion, which is the starting point for the Easter Bonnet Parade. Everyone should gather at 10:45 am, as the parade will begin at 11 am. The parade will travel south on Vermilion and end at Temple Plaza. Adults and children are welcome to participate, if donning Easter bonnets. Kids are welcome to ride decorated bikes. Parade spectators are also welcome to set up along either side of Vermilion from East Harrison to Temple Plaza.
For those that are 50+, there will be a Easter Bonnet Workshop! on Saturday, March 30th, at Senior Source Danville – Live Life Connected from 6:30pm – 8:30pm to help you create your masterpiece.
At Temple Plaza on the 13th, there will be several food vendors, special guests and a variety of other entertainment, including a special appearance by The Dixie Flyer Band who will play from 12 pm to 1 pm, performing a mix of 50s, 60s, and 70s music.
The bike raffle will also be located at Temple Plaza on the 13th. Kids can sign up free.
As part of the Downtown Easter Bonnetroo Festival, Downtown Merchants encourage you to Shop ‘Til You Drop at Spring Shine presents Open House & Easter Egg Game an Open House event from 10 am to 4 pm featuring special sales. To add to the fun, shops will be hosting a Merchant Easter Egg Hunt, where bonnet wearing participants will visit the stores and gather eggs filled with candy and other goodies. Those who collect eggs from all participating stores and bring them back to Temple Plaza, will have a chance to win a grand prize – A Day Downtown Basket, filled with a variety of gift certificates from Downtown Danville restaurants and businesses.
State Champions Girls basketball team from Schlarman High School will be joining the festivities. Bring the kids to meet these impressive athletes and participate in several basketball skill drills.
Guest will have an opportunity to mingle with royalty. Miss Vermilion County,Megan Brown; Miss Parkinsons Awareness, Faith Jackson, and Miss Hoopeston, Laura Linaries will join in the fun.
