Grant Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Downtown Danville Inc. grant program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Location: Businesses must be located within Special Services Area Number One (SSA #1) of downtown Danville.

  2. Project Scope: Grants are available for both interior and exterior improvements to the physical structures of eligible businesses.

  3. Timing: Grant applications are accepted during two funding cycles:

    • Spring Cycle: Applications accepted from April 15 to May 15.

    • Fall Cycle: Applications accepted from August 15 to September 15.

  4. Maximum Grant Amount: The maximum grant award is $5,000 per project.

  5. Project Nature: Grants are specifically for permanent fixtures or physical improvements aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal, functionality, or accessibility of the business premises.

  6. Previous Funding: Businesses that have received grant funding from Downtown Danville Inc. within the past 12 months are not eligible to apply.

  7. Project Completion: Applicants must commit to completing the proposed improvements within six months from the date of grant approval.

  8. Matching Requirement: The grant program operates on a matching basis, requiring applicants to contribute funds equal to or greater than the grant amount requested.

  9. Compliance: All proposed projects must comply with local zoning regulations, building codes, and other applicable laws.

  10. Documentation: Applicants must submit a detailed project proposal outlining the scope of work, budget, timeline, and any additional relevant information.

  11. Selection Process: Grant applications will be evaluated based on criteria such as feasibility, impact on the downtown area, alignment with program goals, and potential for long-term sustainability.

  12. Approval: Final grant awards are subject to approval by the Downtown Danville Inc. board of directors.
